• RedGoatee Instruments é um pequeno atelier dedicado essencialmente à construção da sanfona ibérica, mas também de outros instrumentos de corda. Situa-se no concelho de Paços de Ferreira e foi fundado em Setembro de 2021 pelo multi-instrumentista Mauro Passos. Neste atelier também se procede à reparação, manutenção, amplificação e personalização de vários instrumentos musicais.

• RedGoatee Instruments is a small workshop dedicated mainly to the construction of the hurdy gurdy, but also other string instruments. It is located in the municipality of Paços de Ferreira and was founded in September 2021 by the multi-instrumentalist Mauro Passos. This workshop also carries out the repair, maintenance, amplification and customization of various musical instruments.

• Preocupamo-nos em garantir que as madeiras utilizadas na construção dos nossos instrumentos sejam de origem sustentável, legal e que sejam tratadas respeitando o ambiente, a biodiversidade e a capacidade regenerativa das florestas. Um dos princípios fundamentais da RedGoatee Instruments é o combate à extração ilegal de madeira, que causa graves impactos económicos, ambientais e sociais. Por isso, temos o cuidado de adquirir produtos com certificação FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)

• We are concerned with ensuring that the wood used in the construction of our instruments is of sustainable, legal origin and that they are treated with respect for the environment, biodiversity and the regenerative capacity of forests. One of RedGoatee Instruments' fundamental principles is the fight against illegal logging, which causes serious economic, environmental and social impacts. Therefore, we are careful to purchase products with FSC certification (Forest Stewardship Council)

O luthier / the luthier

• Desde 2009 que o Mauro Passos tem vindo a adquirir conhecimento na arte de lutheria e em colaboração com o seu pai (Cristóvão Passos), conseguiu por em prática alguns projectos que tinha em mente. Juntos começaram a restaurar alguns instrumentos de corda antigos e desenvolveram três instrumentos singulares (cavacárra, bandolinarra e sitárra) aproveitando algumas partes de instrumentos danificados. Em Março de 2019 o músico assume o papel de luthier e decide por em prática a construção da sua primeira sanfona ibérica.

• Since 2009, Mauro Passos has been acquiring knowledge in the art of lutherie and in collaboration with his father (Cristóvão Passos), he managed to put into practice some projects he had in mind. Together they started to restore some old stringed instruments and developed three unique instruments (cavacárra, bandolinarra and sitárra) using some parts of damaged instruments. In March 2019, the musician assumes the role of luthier and decides to put into practice the construction of his first hurdy gurdy.
